THREE PLAYERS SELECTED TO ALL-SBL SQUAD
Three players from the Sunbelt Baseball League champion Choccolocco Monsters were selected to the league's All-SBL Team this week, capping a tremendous return for baseball in Oxford.
Pitchers Avery Brown and Dawson Campbell were selected along with Hayes Harrison, who was named to the team in the Designated Hitter position.
Brown, an undecided Junior from Grantville, GA, finished the season with five saves, a 2-0 record, and an impressive 1.47 ERA. The 6-0, 195-pound hurler struck out 24 batters while only walking 3 and surrendering 10 hits in 18.1 innings of work.
Campbell is also an undecided Junior, hailing from Marietta, GA. This season with the Monsters he posted a 3-1 record to go with a 1.65 ERA as a starter. In 38 innings of work, the 5-10, 185-pounder struck out 31 while walking nine. Campbell also hit .500 in 12 plate appearances with a double and two steals.
Harrison adds yet another award to a long list in his career, hitting at a .333 clip for the Monsters this season with eight doubles and three home runs. He also posted a .921 OPS and .543 SLG in his first season in the SBL. The Northwest Shoals Community College Sophomore also pitched in five games for the Monsters as well, striking out 33 and walking only six in 25.2 innings of work.
