MONSTERS SWEEP WEEKEND SERIES FROM GOL'DIGGERS
OXFORD, AL - The Choccolocco Monsters completed the weekend sweep of the Gainesville Gol'Diggers with a 5-1 win on Saturday night at Choccolocco Park.
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Hayes Harrison doubled to score three runs and put the Monsters ahead for good. The Monsters added on two more runs for insurance in the fifth and were able to shut down the Gol'Diggers offense from there.
Caleb Jatko picked up the win with three scoreless innings of middle relief, allowing no runs or hits while striking out two. Porter Buursema took the loss, allowing two unearned runs in four innings of work with four hits, four walks and four strikeouts.
With the win, the Monsters are now in sole possession of first place in the Sunbelt Baseball League as the regular season enters its final week.
Choccolocco is on the road Monday and Wednesday at the Atlanta Blues before returning home with a weekend series against the Alpharetta Avaitors to finish the regular season. Tickets are on sale at the Choccolocco Park box office and online through this link.
