MONSTERS SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST BLUES

COLUMBUS, GA - The Chattahoochee Monsters offense came alive on Sunday, dropping a pair of eight-spots on the visiting Atlanta Blues to get the team back to 12-12 on the season and right in the thick of the SunBelt Baseball League playoff chase heading into the final week of the regular season.

Brooks Parkerson led the offense in the first game, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Monsters scored six times in the bottom of the third inning to cruise to an 8-5 win.  The Monsters scored five runs before they recorded an out in the inning, and despite an attempted rally by the Blues late in the game, Chattahoochee held on for the victory.

In the second game the Monsters scored three times in the first inning and five times in the second to cruise to an 8-2 victory. Brandon Davis finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBIs and Brayden Pelkey went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help power the Monsters attack.

With the wins, Chattahoochee gets back to .500 on the season and now sit tied for fourth with the Atlanta Crackers. Those two teams will go head-to-head on Monday and Wednesday in Kennesaw, GA before the Monsters round out the regular season with a doubleheader next Sunday at 2:05 pm against the Gainesville Gol’Diggers.
