MONSTERS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH WILD THINGS

OXFORD, AL - The Choccolocco Monsters split a Wednesday doubleheader with the Waleska Wild Things, dropping game one 5-4 before winning game two 4-1.

In the first game, the Monsters fell behind quickly 2-0 in the top of the first inning but rallied for a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Ultimately, a bases-loaded walk and sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning put the Wild Things ahead to stay. Will Baker took the loss for the Monsters while Cole Tremain went 2-for-3. Louis Dion led the Wild Things with a 2-for-4 day including a home run, his second of the season.

In game two, the Monsters kept Waleska off the board for most of the game, with Dawson Campbell pitching six-plus solid innings, allowing only two hits, striking out five and walking three. Hugh Windle provided a pair of RBIs on a single to right field as part of a three-run fifth inning that helped propel the Monsters to the win.

Next up for the Monsters is a weekend set against the Gainesville Gol'Diggers, a series that could help decide first place in the Sunbelt Baseball League standings. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm CT on Friday and 6:05 pm CT on Saturday. Tickets are available at the Choccolocco Park Box Office and online through this link.
