MONSTERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE IN SBL SEMIS
GAINESVILLE, GA - The Chattahoochee Monsters fell one game short of the SunBelt Baseball League Final, bowing 4-1 to the Gainesville Gol’Diggers in a decisive Game Three on Monday night at Ivey Watson Field.
Things looked good early for the Monsters as Caleb Johnson led off the game with a triple, but he was thrown out trying to score on the next play and that set the tone for the game. From there Gainesville starter Jonah Wachter settled in, allowing one run while scattering five hits and striking out seven while walking only one for the win.
Gainesville would grind out two runs in the second and singles in the fourth and seventh, while the Monsters could only plate a single run in the top of the seventh inning.
Eric Moore took the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) and six hits over seven innings of work with three walks and two strikeouts.
The Gol’Diggers now advance to the SBL Final against the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots, with Game One in the best-of-three series coming on Wednesday at Golden Park. All general admission tickets are free to the public for Wednesday courtesy of Buffalo Rock/Pepsi, with upgraded seats available for purchase at the box office.
