Monsters Rally To Win In Extras Over Bucks
BROOKHAVEN, GA - The Chattahoochee Monsters rallied with two runs in the top of the ninth and won on an error that allowed Brody Capps to score in the 11th Inning against the Brookhaven Bucks on Friday night for a 3-2 win.
After allowing singles to Brookhaven in the fifth and sixth innings, the Monsters entered the ninth needing a pair of runs to tie the game. Capps led off the inning and was hit by a pitch, and Chase Evans followed with a walk. Evans was replaced by pinch runner Noah Jones thereafter. Brandon Davis grounded out to first to advance Capps and Jones, and they both scored on Tanner Martin’s double to right field tying the game at 2-2.
In the top of the 11th, Capps once again led off the inning, this time ending up safely at first because of an error on the shortstop. Capps then stole second as Jones struck out.
After fouling off the first pitch, Davis singled to second base but yet another error allowed Capps to come all the way around from second to score the eventual winning run.
Martin finished the game 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Dawson Fuller earned the win for the Monsters, giving up one hit in one inning of work with a strikeout. Harris Burns earned the save, fanning two of the three Bucks hitters he faced in the bottom of the 11th inning to secure the victory.
The same two teams are back at it tomorrow night in Brookhaven. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
