MONSTERS LATE RALLY FALLS SHORT IN 7-6 LOSS

OXFORD, AL - The Choccolocco Monsters staged a rally in the late innings scoring three runs in the eighth and ninth, but fell short in a weekend split with the Atlanta Blues 7-6 on Saturday night.

Atlanta scored five runs from the sixth inning on, including a two-run home run from Miles Bowens in the seventh inning. After The Monsters score two in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 6-5 game, the Blues added insurance in the ninth on Paul Green's RBI single to left making it a 7-5 game.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Monsters clung to life with two outs as Eli Tidwell's infield single brought home Dawson Campbell to make it 7-6, but the Monsters could get no closer as Rashad Robinson grounded out to end the game.

Geoffrey Gore was credited with the win despite giving up four earned runs in 5.2 innings of work, with Green finishing off the game for the save in 1.1 innings of work.

Choccolocco now heads to Alpharetta for a pair of games against the Aviators on Monday and Wednesday. The next Monsters home game will be Friday, June 28 against the Atlanta Crackers at 7:05 pm CT.
