MONSTERS FORCE DECIDING GAME THREE WITH 8-2 WIN

COLUMBUS, GA - The Chattahoochee Monsters evened the best-of-three SunBelt Baseball League Semifinal series at 1-1 with an impressive 8-2 win over the Gainesville Gol’Diggers on Saturday night.

Because of a freak heavy downpour the game was delayed roughly two hours, and once underway was slated to last seven innings.

Gol’Diggers leadoff hitter Brandon Prince took the second pitch of the ballgame deep and Gainesville built a 2-0 lead before the Monsters came to the plate.

But as they have all season, the Monsters once again showed no lead is safe. Brody Capps started the offense with a two-run single in the bottom of the second. Then with two outs in the fourth, the Monsters greeted relief pitcher Jake Beaver with three straight singles to score four more runs. Then Jay Kehoe (3-for-4, 3 RBIs) salted the game away with his second RBI single of the game, scoring a pair of runs for the 8-2 final.

Jax Yoxtheimer went five strong innings to earn the win for the Monsters, scattering four hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out two. Eric Moore and Ashton Faulk each pitched an inning of relief to secure the win.

Now the Monsters will head to Gainesville for a winner-take-all Game 3 on Monday night at 6:35 pm. The winner advances to face the Columbus Chatt-a-Hoots in the SBL Final with dates and times to be announced next week.
