MONSTERS FALL 10-4 IN GAME ONE
GAINESVILLE, GA - The Gainesville Gol’Diggers rode a five-run third inning to a 10-4 win over the Chattahoochee Monsters in Game 1 of the best-of-three SunBelt Baseball League Semifinal on Friday night.
Leading 2-1 heading into the inning, the Gol’Diggers sent ten men to the plate and chased Monsters starter Logan Willis after just 2.2 innings. Two errors and a hit batsman contributed to the spiral in the inning, with four of the five runs scoring unearned.
The Monsters tried to rally with singles in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but each time the Gol’Diggers answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Game 2 comes Saturday night at Golden Park in Columbus as the Monsters look to stave off elimination with a win. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm and the Golden Park box office opens one hour before game time.
