MONSTERS DROP FIRST, SECOND GAME OF DH POSTPONED

GAINESVILLE, GA - The Gainesville Gol’Diggers won the first half of a scheduled doubleheader 7-1 over the Chattahoochee Monsters before the second game was postponed.


Heavy rain has dotted the Georgia landscape all week, forcing the move of Monday’s game to Wednesday night for an attempted doubleheader.


With the two teams tied at 1-1, Gainesville exploded for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break the game open on three home runs. Riley Stanford started the inning with a solo shot followed by a three-run homer from Zach Zarra before the Monsters were able to record the first out of the inning. Then Matthew Rose capped the scoring in the fifth with another solo home run.


Ashton Faulk took the loss for the Monsters on one inning of work with five runs (all earned), five hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Kayne Jinks took the win for Gainesville.


The second game will be made up with the scheduled date and time TBD. The next Monsters home games will be a doubleheader this Sunday at Golden Park starting at 2:05 pm against the Atlanta Crackers. Tickets are on sale now by calling (706) 507-4625 or online at MonstersBB.com.
