2023 MR. BASEBALL, GATORADE POTY HARRISON SIGNS WITH MONSTERS

OXFORD, AL - The Chattahoochee Monsters have tapped Etowah High School’s Ricky Clayton to be the team’s Field Manager for the 2024 SBL season, and signed Oxford High School standout Hayes Harrison to the roster.

Harrison is the 2023 Alabama Mr. Baseball and Gatorade Player of the Year for Alabama. The Oxford native led the Yellowjackets to a 39-6 record and the Class 6A State Championship as a pitcher and first baseman. This season with Northwest-Shoals Community College (still in progress), he is second on the team with a .358 average in 48 games played. As a pitcher Harrison is 5-2 with a 4.23 ERA and 1.18 WHIP to go along with 43 strikeouts in 66 innings of work.

Monsters Director of Baseball Operations Roby Brooks was also Harrison’s travel baseball coach and instructor, making the decision a more familiar one as well.

Clayton will lead the Monsters on the field this season. As assistant coach and pitching coach at Etowah High, Clayton helped lead the team to a 4A State Championship in 2023. With the Monsters roster comprised entirely of local talent, Brooks and Clayton make an impactful duo to help shape the roster in 2024.

The Monsters return to Oxford for the 2024 SBL season, with the home opener scheduled for Friday, June 7 at 7:05 pm CT against the Brookhaven Bucks. Tickets are $10 for general admission seats, and on sale right now through the Choccolocco Park Ticket Office or online at https://gofan.co/app/school/AL86338.
